Moments of Movement
10-12 May 2019
'Relational depth': Moments of movement in therapy, by Mick Cooper (UK)
The change process in person-centered and experiential therapies, by Gerhard Stumm (Austria)
Encounter Groups will take place on Friday and Saturday at the end of the day.
We are honoured and pleased to encourage the Symposium participants to focus on the following questions:
- How can we describe moments of movement understood as “shifts” or “change-steps” in psychotherapy (referring to the works of Rogers and Gendlin)? Is it possible to distinguish different forms of moments of movement? What notions are most useful in this context? How can we measure the process of change in psychotherapy?
- What are the factors that facilitate (and hinder) moments of movement in psychotherapy (taking into consideration: the elements of the therapeutic relationship; the variables related to the therapist and to the client – including the level and specific forms of functional impairment; the elements of the therapeutic process – including the stages of this process, different therapeutic tools / modalities, and conceptualizations)?
- Are there elements of the process of change in psychotherapy that remain mysterious, unexplained?
We are calling for presentations of research results and meta-analyses, as well as preliminary theoretical models, case studies and examples of good therapeutic practice. We cordially invite therapists and researchers to share their ideas, experiences, and puzzles.
